| "The Auction Block" Moves |
|
The owners of "The Auction Block" a locally based auction company has moved. Recently located at Traders Point in Manistique for the last couple years, "The Auction Block" will be moving to the property just east of the Kewadin Casino. This property in recent years has been known as "The Blue Bird Gas Station" and "Davis’s Antique Furniture". Owners of "The Auction Block" Jean and Doug LaFoille are very excited about the new location. This location will have a larger parking lot, easier access in and out of the facility and offices for the employees. The actual "Auction Gallery" will be as large if not somewhat larger then the previous location. Storage for upcoming auctions will be on site, and upgrades on the entire location have already started. Future plans include an antique shop, a small lunch area, appraisal fairs, racetrack for remote control vehicles (for kids and adults), and rental of the "Auction Gallery" area for any special events as well as FREE indoor exercise walks during winter months during open time. A consultant will be on hand during regular business hours to answer questions about auctions and assist with identifying any items brought in for identification, which will also be FREE. Jean and Doug LaFoille wish to thank the community and the friends that have supported them in the early years of business. The new location is expected to be as rewarding if not more exciting then our previous. Auctions will still take place year round as they have in the last three years, a grand opening is expected in the fall of 2002.
